“It’s hard to be a hick in a hi-tech world” featuring Philip T. Hicks With the last name of Hicks and being born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., it’s only natural that Philip T. Hicks makes fun of his own southern heritage and yet he’s as sly as a fox when doing it! Performing as Cuz’n Philburt & Wilburt tha Pig, this dynamic duo has opened for Jeff Foxworthy at the Las Vegas Convention Center, appeared on the Carol Lawrence Show, Standup with Fred Travelena, the Gabrielle Show and many others. They’ve also been featured on KTLA-5’s Good Morning LA and Sacramento’s KOVR-13’s Special Assignment! A former winner of the Extreme Gong Show, they’ve also roasted principals, pastors and corporate presidents where folks go hog wild over Philip’s innate ability to recall names and personal information as well as his witty improvisational abilities. But you’ll enjoy much more than one character when entertained by this former Sports Anchor and Game Show Host, as Philip T. Hicks “transforms” into several of his relatives, including Elvis Hicks & Grandpa Dudley Hicks! Elvis Hicks werks at a service station down in Tupelo, Mississippi – the actual birthplace of Elvis Presley – and to this date Elvis Hicks demands that “he taught Elvis Presley all his moves and grooves ‘fore tha feller run off to Memphis and become uh star!” And this Elvis – complete with Billy Bob teeth insists “he’s still making stars” before selecting a few audience members which he clothes in Elvis wigs and glasses and teaches them a few grooves. Why, you may even be surprised by the moves & grooves of the Reverend Elvis Presley as he sings such hits as “I’m all prayed up!” (to the tune of I’m all shook up!) It doesn’t stop there, though, ‘cuz if you request Cuz’n Philburt’s sidekick (his side of bacon!), you’ll be amazed by the amazing tricks performed by Wilburt the Pot-Belly-Pig!

But Philip T. Hicks is much more than a comedian for he’s traveled for several years as an Evangelist, sharing his miraculous testimony in churches, schools, prisons and on television. His is a message of encouragement that brings hope to parents and grandparents who are reminded of God’s gracious love and sovereignty in Philip’s life. After attending church for 29 years, he made bad choices which led to being sentenced to “Life plus 15 years” in prison. Knocked down with nowhere to look but up, he cried out in His trouble and God not only saved Philip but miraculously set him free from prison a mere four years later!
Philip and his beautiful wife, Patti, live with their son, Cody, in Loomis, CA. Licensed through the Rock of Roseville, they operate A Merry Heart Ministries (www.amerryheart.com).
